The Future of Volunteer Firefighting (read more . . .)

An excellent and very on-point recent NPR radio program on the challenges facing volunteer fire companies across America. Deputy Fire Chief of Training at the D.C. Fire and EMS Department Tony Kelleher; fire and rescue responder in New York's Hudson Valley Myke Cole; and volunteer at the Brush Volunteer Fire Department in Brush, Colorado, Paul Acosta are interviewed. They discuss the particular challenges arising from the decline in volunteer recruitment and increased certification requirements.
