The Lucketts Vol. Fire Co.'s new Support Services Unit received the official go-ahead with a unanimous vote of approval by the Loudoun Fire and Rescue System Executive Committee at its June 25, 2024, meeting. The System chiefs were very complimentary of the recent efforts Lucketts has made to build this important new way to serve the System and the community, even in these challenging and changing times for volunteer fire companies.
As part of the hard work to get the Support Services Unit up and running as quickly as possible, the Lucketts VFC has just purchased a fully equipped support truck (pictured above, with its brand-new Lucketts 610 lettering) from Purcellville Volunteer Rescue Squad, along with a new F-350 tow vehicle and trailer—not to mention receiving a fantastic donation of a new 2024 Polaris UTV from E E Reed Construction.
The Lucketts Support Services Unit will be dispatched to incident scenes to provide essential support to other first responders, including hydration, food, lighting, and climate-controlled shelter. Employing the UTV in off-road situations, it will be able to assist in moving personnel and gear and recovering patients.
